Women’s Golf Clubs - Golf Clubs for Women
Golf Basics, Equipment May 2nd, 2007If you are a woman golfer, join the club – many women are now discovering the great game that was once reserved for men. Gone are the days when women (or any person of color) are barred from playing at a country club. And with that newfound love of the game, women golfers understand the need for making the investment in a good set of golf clubs. The choices in women’s golf clubs has greatly increased and it’s important to know what each woman-specific club offers, whether it’s lighter in weight, more controllable or just shorter in length.
Most avid female golfers have a driver, 3-wood, 5-wood, 7-wood and 9-wood in their golf bag. Woods made for women are often lighter for faster swing speeds and more distance. Women’s woods that don’t specify the height of the player for which they are designed are great for women between 5’5” and 5’9”.
Look for irons that are very light and easy to control. More and more women are using utility woods instead of long irons. Most women find it easier to hit 7- and 9-woods consistently, so they replace 3-irons and 4-irons.
When shopping for clubs, your local sporting goods or golf store will, most likely, have a wide array to choose from. It’s an exciting time for women golfers – not only have you discovered the game, but golf manufacturers have realized that you have different needs from men, and are now providing you with choice in equipment, including clubs!
