Well, They Are Australians…
General News February 6th, 2006Australia is a nation that was founded by several boatloads of England’s rejects. Felons, riff-raff, the homeless, even just the simply unemployed. With nothing to do with them, England decided to ship them off to a far away land and basically dump them there. Out of sight, out of mind. That land became the nation of Australia, and the citizens today are actually quite proud of their humble ancestry.
So, what does this have to do with golf? Well, seems they love their golf down under, but some of the descendants of the nation’s founders still love their crime as well. During today’s New South Wales Amateur Championship in Sydney, an armed man crashed the course at Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club and proceeded to drive his stolen truck down the 7th fairway. He’d just robbed a local supermarket (allegedly) and was making his getaway, when for some reason he decided that they’d never think to look for him in his truck in a bunker. That’s where he ended up - in a bunker on the 6th hole. After fleeing his ‘plugged’ truck, he was eventually apprehended in a nearby house he’d holed up in.
Now for the real question of the day. What’s the ruling if his truck ended up on top of your ball in that bunker?
