Well, Tiger has started off another season with a win. Ho hum, right? He certainly seems to love playing at Torrey Pines and the Buick Invitational. He played the course often growing up, so it’s no surprise that he’s got another claim to a first in pro golf. He’s now the only player to win the Buick 4 times.

The win wasn’t an easy one. He found himself in a 3-way playoff with Jose Maria Olazabal and Nathan Green after a clutch birdie on the 18th hole. And it’s not as if Tiger played stellar golf - either during the regulation or playoff holes. He 3-putted three times during the regular round, which is very uncharacteristic of the world’s best putter, even on a tough putting course like Torrey Pines. Once in the playoff, Tiger won with pars, not another birdie. In essence, Olazabal and Green (an Australian rookie) handed the trophy to him by making mistakes.

Still, it took a gutsy day of grinding golf to even get himself into the playoff for a chance to win. At the end of the day, it was Tiger’s 47th tour win. For a guy who just turned 30, that’s truly an awesome feat! Hat’s off to the best in the world.
