Glover Wins Mercedes Benz at The Mercedes Championship
General News January 7th, 2006During the Mercedes Championship today, Lucas Glover smoothly aced a par-three eighth hole during the third round. In doing so, Glover was awarded a Mercedes-Benz.
At the start of the day, Glover was tied at 11th place. He was able to hit a five-iron from 203 yards, and after bouncing the ball dropped into the cup. According to tournament officials his shot has been the first hole-in-one since the tournament in Kapalua in the past eighth years.
This hole-in-one quickly accelerated Glover to the third position, only two strokes behind Appleby. Appleby has been giving this tournament all he’s got in hopes to win a third time, making it three years in a row. The only other two wins for Appleby in the last two years have been in Hawaii.
