Starting next year, Scotland will be the home of the world championship for blind golfers. It will host the World Blind Golf Invitation and the British Blind Open Golf Championships in Edinburgh.

There are over 100 golfers that are scheduled to attend these events from every corner of the planet such as Israel, Australia and South America.

This is the second time that the Scottish Blind Golf Society will be hosting this, event and the World Blind Golf Invitation Champion, Cameron McDiarmid, 2003 winner, is pleased that it is in his hometown and looking forward to the event, “It will almost certainly be a bigger and better field than the one that I faced the last time, and I will maybe try to get out to Ratho, which I’ve never played before, to get some practice in before the competition begins in earnest. It’s been two years since I won the trophy, but there will be more competitors and they will all have improved, so it will be tough,” McDiarmid said.

The total cost for the even is expected to be £80,000 (139,000 USD), with contributions from the International Blind Golf Association, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club.
