What is the ideal age to start playing golf?

Hi Chris, My son is five years old and is beginning to show signs of wanting to play golf — he’s always picking up my clubs and swinging them. I recently took him around my home course and he just loved it. What is the ideal age to start playing and should I teach him?
I think I got my first set of clubs at about that same age. I remember my dad and uncle buying a complete kid’s set and dividing it between my cousin and me. We frequently would go to the driving ranges together or hit wiffle balls our backyards.
Starting at such a young age is great because you get a tremendous jumpstart on learning the muscle memory of a proper swing. Even though I didn’t play any golf during my middle school and junior high days… the club still felt familiar when I picked it back up in high school.

i think the best age to start around is anywhere from 6 - 8 years old.
