More tips from CNN’s Golf Guru today. This time there are only two questions asked, but I really like the first question.

Hi Chris, I can almost play my local club course blindfolded — I must know every dip, bump and bunker. But whenever I play elsewhere my game goes to pieces. Can you give me some tips on coping with unfamiliar courses?

This is probably a situation that most of us have thought about from both angles. Take the following scenarios for example.

1. You are playing on your home course, and are either bored by the fact that you know exactly what lies ahead or delighted that you can plan in advance so accurately.

2. The other perspective occurs when playing a round of golf at another course. You are either pleasantly surprised at the enjoyment and excitement of not knowing what is coming up, or you are frustrated with all of the little surprises you come across.

Chris Meadows gives a handful of pros and cons of playing on a new course, not to mention some good tips and advice.

Make sure you have a good look at the course beforehand and try to relate each hole to others you’ve played elsewhere. Talk to someone who knows the course to get an idea of any pitfalls that may be lurking out there.

Like always, I suggest you take a look at the article in its entirety at CNN.com.
