I was browsing the internet as usual today when I came across an interesting article, titled “Hole in 247,000“. Apparently, David Sullivan, 42, set out three months ago to complete a 1,100 mile hole (from John O’Groats to Lands End) in the name of children’s charities. The article says that he followed all golf rules and lost 293 balls in the process.
His mission was to fulfill his dream of entering the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest golf hole, and that is just what he did. At the time of this article he was averaging 25 miles per day, starting at 6:30am.
Some of the stranger diversions en route have included playing through a wedding party and having his photo taken with the bride and groom in the first week to more recently putting a golf ball through Glasgow City Centre as hundreds of youngsters queued to see American rapper 50 Cent in concert.
After completing the hole, Sullivan commented, “I’ve been up mountains, in gardens, chased by bulls… you name it. My feet are killing me.”
My feet would be killing me too!
