Bushnell Laser RangefinderThe Kansas City Golf Association has announced their approval of laser rangefinder devices in tournament play. The rangefinders are used to accurately predict a golfer’s distance from the hole. The KSGA is “confident that such devices are capable of providing consistent and accurate distances for the players.”

These improvements provide two significant benefits; they allow every golfer, regardless of their familiarity with the course, to confidently gauge the distance needed for each shot; and by quickly ascertaining those distances, we believe we can improve the pace of play.

I for one agree with the decision. All golf courses have built in “rangefinders” (aka distance markers) on each hole to help golfers gauge their distance. These laser devices only make the process faster and more accurate.

Nearly all of the golfers and their caddies use laser rangefinders during practice rounds to accurately calculate distance for their yardage books.
