Jennifer Mario, who writes for the TravelGolf.com blogs, recently revealed what annoys her most out on the golf course. Her list, in order, is as follows:

1. Rules know-it-alls
2. Finding red tee markers on the white tee box
3. Overly long holes
4. Sexism
5. Loud talkers

Now, this list is obviously from a woman’s perspective, but I can say I completely agree with annoyances one and five. Loud talkers and know-it-alls both fit into the category of obnoxious golfers. I occasionally have short tolerance for annoyances, and always having to listen to an obnoxious golfer can make me want to throw a club their way!

I remember golfing with a know-it-all once. It was getting dark by the time we got to the sixth green (we had a long wait to get started) and our foursome wanted to finish up quick. This was a friendly game, so we started hitting out of turn in an effort to save time. During a putt, two balls collided. Three of us agreed to place the balls approximately where they were and putt again. However, the know-it-all insisted that this was against the rules (which it was) and that we had to take a penalty! A penalty for trying to finish quick, something that we all agreed on? He wouldn’t give it up for the rest of the night.

I filed this under Tips & Advice because I think all golfers (especially men) should take note on what annoys a female golfer. Don’t try to be a walking rule book, don’t be sexist, don’t mess with the womens’ tees, and don’t be a loud talker.
