It’s official, Tiger missed the cut
PGA October 22nd, 2005The predictions all over the media that Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh probably wouldn’t be making the cut were confirmed today. Tiger ended his last round with a 1-over 73. His combined score was three under while the cut was six under.
Tiger had a chance today to get out of the hole he dug yesterday, but couldn’t come through in the clutch. He was faced with the task of having to birdie the last two holes, but left himself with no hope (except for a hole-in-one) on the last hole.
“I had to play a great shot out of the trees and give myself a putt, which I didn’t do,” Woods said. “I tried to hole the chip, and I didn’t do that. I had to at least try to make a putt so I could eagle the last hole, and I didn’t do that, either.”
With Vijay also missing the cut, Woods clinched the money title for the sixth time in his career, ending Singh’s two year streak. However, that doesn’t seem to mean much to him:
“If money titles meant anything, I’d play more tournaments,” said Woods, who has not played more than 21 times since his first full season in 1997. “The only thing that means a lot to me is winning. If I have more wins than anybody else and win more majors than anybody else in the same year, then it’s been a good year.”
